Well, I finally finished my bachelors course work. Thank you Thomas Edison State College. Soon to possibly part of the Rutgers University. My g.p.a. is listed as 3.77! I attended Trends in Trauma and Cardiovascular nursing put together by the South East Pennsylvania chapter of the American association of Critical Care Nurses in Atlantic City, NJ. I was able to get my 30 hours of continuing education for my license. I now have to continue to get credits for my certifications. Monday I was notified that I had been nominated and selected as the Eileen Kelly Critical Care Excellence Award recipient for Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. I understand this is such an honor that the jealousy I experienced for the week was nauseating. I will be attending a luncheon and a dinner May 12th, at which time I am hopeful to find out and thank whoever nominated me.
I continue to be wishy washy about a couple job opportunities before me. As my Aunt Mary Lou tells me “you should sit tight in your current job until you find out about your acceptance to Penn Nursing.” She is probably right but I do better keeping busy. I am currently interviewing for a position in data management which sounds promising. Monday through Friday, make my own hours, no weekends, no holidays, some time doing phone triage but a possible drop in pay. I am scheduled to interview at Presbyterian Medical Center, part of Penn Medicine, for a resource pool position. This position is 12 hour day shift with every third or less weekend shift, working in a variety of settings with a $14/hour pay raise but still curious about the holidays and guaranteed hours. Both opportunities sound promising with the flexibility for school, once again “if”, and would allow a change which I need on a regular basis.
I was just offered to speak on the radio for nurses week, but the time is next week so I’m confused, but hey I’ll post the info maybe monday. Fun, fun, fun.
Okay, lastly Angela Kelley PA-C will be greatly missed by the nurses, physicians and everyone else at Jefferson hospital. Being someone who changes like the wind, I understand why she had to leave. Here’s to you Angela!
